Where we are

Forged in the far south of Brazil.

Our workshop is in Tapes, a small town in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil's southernmost state. It sits on the shore of Lagoa dos Patos, a huge coastal lagoon, about an hour and a half south of Porto Alegre, the state capital.

This is gaúcho country, Brazil's cowboy country: cattle, open grassland, and churrasco (barbecue over an open fire) every weekend. Knife-making runs deep in this part of Brazil, and every knife we ship to the US is forged right here.

  • Closer to Buenos Aires than to Rio
  • Borders Uruguay and Argentina

Made in Brazil

A real family company, with real people.

D'Avila is a family-owned company from southern Brazil. We design, forge and sell our own knives, and more than 150 people work with us. This is the whole team at our last anniversary party.

  • 150+ people employed in Brazil
  • Family-owned since 2012
  • Forged in Tapes, Brazil

Stores in Brazil

Real doors you can walk into.

There are D'Avila stores across Brazil, from Porto Alegre to Brasília: on the street, in shopping malls and in outlets. If you're ever in Brazil, come say hello.

A note from the founders

Why we're crossing the border.

We're the D'Avila family. We've been forging full-tang knives in our workshop in Tapes, Brazil, since 2012, and we're about to start selling online in the United States. We'd like you to be among the first to know when we launch.

Southern Brazil is barbecue country. A good knife here isn't a luxury, it's part of the table, and that's how our family started: forging blades for the neighbors who cook over fire every weekend.

Over the years, orders started arriving from people who had visited Brazil and taken a D'Avila home. Enough of them that we decided to stop shipping one at a time and launch a proper online store for the United States.

Same steel, same hands, same lifetime warranty. Just closer to you.
